Amina Ali, was airlifted by Nigeria Air Force Super Puma aircraft from Damboa to Maiduguri, Borno State alongside her baby and supposed husband, Mohammed Hayatu, who stated hunger and ill health as reasons for his action. Amina was reportedly recognised by a civilian fighter. She told her rescuers that six of her abducted colleagues had died while others were being held in Sambisa Forest by their abductors.
Prior to that, they were examined at Air Force medical facility and were found to be stable and normal blood pressure was observed. According to him, his family would have starved to death following the blocking of supply routes by intensive military operations. After preliminary investigation, the rescued girl and her baby has been handed over to Borno State Governor, Shetima, at Government house.
It is believed that she will be taken to Abuja today along with her parents to meet with Pres. Buhari. Meanwhile, the supposed husband is undergoing further investigation at Joint Intelligence Centre. Hayatu is well treated in line with Operation LAFIYA DOLE Rules of Engagement regarding insurgents who voluntarily surrender to the military.
