Suspected leader of an armed robbery gang which specialised in cars-snatching, Ahmed Ola, has revealed that the state of economy in the country forced him into the illicit business.
The suspect, while being paraded yesterday at the Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, hinted that he formed the robbery gang while in prison.
He also revealed that the team fabricated keys which opened all manners of cars, adding that the group always had a standby buyer for the cars it snatched.

The Police yesterday paraded the notorious gang, which according to the police, had been terrorising the people of the state.
The suspects, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, were arrested upon a series of complaints by members of the public on their activities.
He said: “I met two members of the gang inside the cell when I was arrested for a crime and from there we formed this group. We have snatched so many vehicles and we have people that are buying them from us. We have fabricated master keys for different brands of cars.”
Those paraded alongside the kingpin included the buyer of the snatched cars, Ozazuwa Odion and two members of the team, Abiodun Taiwo and Ifeanyi Oke.
Adejobi, who told journalists that the suspects have confessed to the crime upon interrogation, said 10 vehicles were recovered from the gang which were snatched from neighbouring states.
Others paraded were 14 suspected cultists from Agbara axis and six from Ijebu-Ode area of the state.
Also, three suspects were arrested and paraded in connection with the killing of an innocent citizen, during a bloody clash between two rival groups of hoodlums.
The Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, said the command would not leave any stone unturned to freeing the state from the grip of criminals.
