Buhari has acheived alot within one month in office-Lai Mohammed


The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Tuesday, said President Muhammadu Buhari's pace within 30 days of his administration has outpaced the six years achievements of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said

“It’s been about one month now since President Buhari assumed office, and I can tell you that there has been motion, and there has been movement, contrary to what is being peddled in some quarters.

“Let me say straight away that my party, the APC, understands and appreciates the concerns of Nigerians as far as the perceived pace of the administration is concerned. We understand that they repose so much confidence in the party and the government to act quickly to stamp out insecurity, tackle corruption, revive the moribund economy, provide jobs and generally restore hope. 

Breaking News: CBN Extends BVN Deadline To October 31

The CBN said on Tuesday that the Bank Verification Exercise (BVN) has been extended to October 31, 2015, according to NAN.

The Central Bank had earlier fixed Tuesday, June 30, as deadline for the exercise, warning that defaulters may not be able to access their accounts from July 1.

As the deadline approached, millions of customers spent hours on long queues at banks across the country, struggling to have their data captured.

Customers in commercial banks operating in Asaba, the Delta State capital have appealed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend the deadline for the registration of the mandatory Bank Verification Number (BVN) which officially ended yesterday.

The customers who thronged respective branches of their banks making frantic efforts to get enrolled into the system, blamed their failure to register on faulty equipment by the operators of the system.
They lamented that each time they come forwarded to be enrolled, the excuse by the operators was that the machine was faulty and that they should come back on a later date, noting that it was always going to be difficult to wait for last minute rush.

 A young Swedish woman who sued her former Wall Street executive boss over lurid allegations of sexual conquest, betrayal and stalking was awarded $18 million by a federal jury Monday.

Hanna Bouveng, 25, accused Benjamin Wey in an $850 million lawsuit of using his power as owner of New York Global Group to coerce her into four sexual encounters before firing her after discovering she had a boyfriend.

The jury in federal court in Manhattan awarded her $2 million in compensatory damages plus $16 million in punitive damages on sexual harassment, retaliation and defamation claims. It rejected a claim of assault and battery.

Indonesian Military Plane Crashes Into Residential Area And Kill More Than 100 People Many Injured

No fewer than 100 people were killed after an Indonesian military plane, C-130 Hercules carrying 113 passengers crashed into Medan, the third largest residential area in Indonesia.

According to Indonesia’s Air force chief, Air Marshall Agus Supriatna, the pilot told the control tower that the plane needed to turn back because of engine trouble. “The plane crashed while it was turning right to return to the airport,” Supriatna said.

Fola Adeola has resigned as deputy chairman of the Boko Haram Victims' Support Committee without giving a reason for his resignation, Premium Times reports.

The fund was set by Goodluck Jonathan's administration to pool resources and provide support to victims of Boko Haram insurgency and other similar clashes.

Mr. Adeola, a former Vice-Presidential candidate, who tendered his resignation last Monday to the Chairman of the committee, Theophilus Danguma and could not be reached for comment as he was said to be out of the country.

Professor Attahiru Jega’s tenure as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has come to an end.

The former INEC boss, who took over from Professor Maurice Iwu, assumed office on June 8, 2010 during the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Professor Jega officially handed over leadership to the commission’s National Commissioner, Ambassador Mohammad Wali, on Tuesday.

ISIS Sells 42 Yazidi Women To Fighters In Syria

The so-called Islamic State group on Thursday sold 42 Iraqi women it had abducted from the Yazidi religious minority to its fighters in eastern Syria, a monitor said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the women were being treated as "slaves" by the jihadists and were sold "for between $500 (447 euros) and $2,000 dollars (1,785 euros)".

The women were kidnapped last year in the Sinjar region of northern Iraq where IS had launched a wide offensive, the Britain-based monitor said.

President Buhari Says Provision of Electricity To Nigerians Is Top Priority In This Administration


 President Muhammadu Buhari reaffirmed Monday in Abuja that his administration will give the highest possible priority to the rapid improvement of power supply across Nigeria.

Speaking at an audience with officials of CGGC, the Chinese Construction Company working on the Mambilla Power Project, President Buhari said that it was quite regrettable that power generation in Nigeria had failed to keep pace with national needs over the years.

The President said that his administration will therefore ensure that the Mambilla project and other unfinished hydro-power projects in the country are completed expeditiously to boost power supply in the country.

Leadership reports that Ibrahim Mu’azu, director,corporate communications, CBN, confirmed that the deadline for registration is tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30, 2015.

He explained further that bank customers were given adequate time and that the bank expected they should have taken advantage of the period scheduled for the exercise to register.

The National Economic Council (NEC) has set up a committee to immediately investigate a shortfall of N3.5 trillion in remittance by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into the Federation Account since 2012.

The council, which has the 36 state governors and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria as members, is saddled with the responsibility of advising the President on economic affairs of the country.

This was disclosed at a briefing at the State House on Monday attended by Vice Presi‎dent Yemi Osinbajo, Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, and his counterparts from Kaduna, Zamfara and Akwa Ibom States.

There was tension in Anambra State yesterday, following reports that 47 Boko Haram suspects have been relocated to Ekwulobia Prisons in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

When the rumour of the alleged relocation broke out weekend, hundreds of youths stormed the streets and all markets in the state were shut in protest.

A visit to Ekwulobia Prisons, however, did not show any sign that new inmates were brought there and the prisons officials said they had not received any signal to that effect.

The Presidency, through the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, has instructed the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, to refund over payment of salaries running into millions of naira.

The Registrar of the university, David Suowari, was also directed to refundthe sum of N130, 692.71 per month in excess of his due salary.

According to a report by SA newspaper Sowetanlive, 18 year old Boitumelo Dlamini was taken by four girls into a car, driven to a bush where they poured petrol on her and burnt her to death. One of the girls is the ex-girlfriend of the boy she's dating. Her charred body was found in the bush in Klipgat, North West, on Thursday June 25th.

Boitumelo's boyfriend's ex-girlfriend and three of her friends have been arrested for the crime and are facing murder charges and kidnapping.

Boitumelo , 18, a Grade 12 pupil at Elepsa Secondary School, became romantically involved with Tokelo Makalepho, 24, from her village, six months ago.

Nigerian Former First Lady Patience Jonathan's ex-security aide murdered

A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was Principal Security Officer to the wife of the former President, Patience Jonathan, has been shot dead by unknown assailants.
Igbomie’s corpse was found in his Honda Accord car last Friday along the Airport Road, Abuja.

The former PSO, who was married with two children, was believed to have been killed by assassins who shot him at close range in his car and left the engine running.
A source said the body of the DSP was found early in the morning with all his phones, wallet and other personal effects in tact in the car.

Speaker Dogara Reveals Why He Didn’t Read Letter from APC Chairman

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, on Sunday said that a court process instituted by 30 All Progressives Congress members stopped him from acting on a letter from the party’s leadership, nominating four principal officers for the lower chambers of the National Assembly.

In his very first reaction to the results of the election in which he defeated former Minority Leader, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, by eight votes, he admitted that it was a “miracle” that he won.

Our correspondent gathered that the 17-year-old suspect took the poison from a relative of her boyfriend after she was forced to marry Jimoh.

We Regret Voting Buhari InTo Office As Nigerian President - South West Leaders

Some South-West leaders arecurrently biting their fingers in regret over voting President Muhammadu Buhari into office.

The zone is particularly angry with the President, who is the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for tolerating the outcome of National Assembly leadership election, which did not favour the region.

Buhari’s silence according to them is a serious indication that the zone, which queued behind him to ensure victory at the recent polls, may benefit little or nothing from the administration.

“For the fact that the South-West played a key role in the emergence of Buhari as the President, it is expected that they would occupy a more strategic position than the post of vice president”, said one of the leaders.

The authorities of the Delta State University, Abraka on Saturday banned the wearing of miniskirts and insisted there must be a reduction of fellowship centres in the three University campuses.
