President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of planning to bomb bomb and destroy the Niger - Delta region especially the Ijaw areas. The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC ) which stated this on Saturday , July 25 , 2015 said it has uncovered plans by the president to send federal troops to invade the Niger Delta with Ijaw communities as the target .
The group in in a statement by its spokesman, Eric Omare, called the attention of Nigerians and the international community to the military onslaught on the region which it said, would result in serious humanitarian crisis. The youth body said, President Goodluck Jonathan, did not go to war with Buhari in the March 28 presidential election to warrant Buhari's alleged violent hatred towards the Niger Delta people.
